PL3.3_Pa – FOCUSING ON A HEALTHY WORLD TO ENSURE OUR PROSPERITY – A SUMMARY OF THE CONGRESS
For centuries, the great roads linking our world have mainly been used to carry agricultural products: the tea road on the Tibetan high plateau, the spice route, the roads for wheat, sugar and many other food products. Here at the beginning of the 21st century, food is at the heart of the geopolitical map. Is it necessary to remind ourselves of the main challenge facing our planet? Feeding 9 billion people, 3 times per day, 365 days per year, for 75 years! This is a gigantic challenge that will test the political and economic capacity of our societies. It is a challenge that will require the adoption of bold new technology to (paradoxically) increase productivity while protecting our natural resources. It is a challenge that will require us to multiply algorithms using metadata to produce in a better way and more importantly to reduce our scandalous level of food waste. Finally, it is a challenge that will require a sacred alliance between producers and consumers, to ensure that both live better and live well.
